Interview conducted by Grace Triantafyllos
2:01pm: During a free period, I find Sabrina next to the Hill building steps. The sun is shining, the courtyard is calm, and we find a quiet spot for our interview. I click record. It takes me approximately 45 seconds to get my interviewer-y wits about me, sooo…we decide to restart, and I click record again.
Grace: Hi! [laughing] What’s something you’re passionate about?
Sabrina: I really love dance. I just came out of dance class. And yeah, I've been doing it for a long time—like, 12 years…Oh my god. And yeah, I definitely spend a lot of time on it out of school. So that's kind of like my main extracurricular.
Grace: What types of dance do you do?
Sabrina: I do ballet, contemporary, I guess modern, and then I used to do jazz and lyrical.
Grace: Nice! And then what's one of your favorite songs?
Sabrina: Favorite songs? This is hard. Not a particular song, but I've been listening to a lot of Kali Uchis lately, especially her album Red Moon in Venus. So I would say that entire album. It’s the vibe.
Grace: Absolutely. Okay, what's one item on your bucket list?
Sabrina: To do, or like, to go, or like, a thing to get?
Grace: I'd say do or go. I mean, if there’s something you really want to get, go for it, but…
Sabrina: I really want to go to Japan, so that's, like, bucket list of places to travel. Things to do…I don't know, maybe skydiving, or, like, bungee jumping. Something crazy.
Grace: I love that! Okay. Okay, stunning. How have you changed during your time at College Prep?
Sabrina: I want to say I've become a better student….I don’t know if that's true. I think I just know myself better as a person, especially when it comes to school and studying, my bad study habits. Like I think I've discovered more about myself, I would say. For the better or the worse. [laughs]
Grace: And finally, what's one of your favorite College Prep memories?
Sabrina: I feel like I should have prepped this. I'm thinking about it now.
Grace: No, take as long as you need to.
Sabrina: Intraterm last year. I went to Monterey, and that was super fun. I feel like we were a pretty close group. And there were only two other seniors, so I feel like we bonded a lot. And yeah, that was fun. We went to Monterey for a few days. And then it started raining while we were out there. And we were really drinking coffee in the rain. It was a very interesting experience, but it was really fun. We laughed about it afterwards.
Grace: Which Intraterm was that?
Sabrina: Last year? Oh, that was like, Monterey…mammals? Oh, marine mammals!
Grace: Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I don’t remember exactly the name either. Ok, thank you so much for sitting down to have a chat with me! That was lovely!
