Interview conducted by Sofia R.
11:52 a.m: Meeting right after the Common Classroom showing of Chorus Line, Khalil and I sat by the admissions office. Winter weather annoyingly persisted despite getting closer and closer to spring break, yet the sun shined. I clicked record. Welcome Khalil. The interview has begun.
Sofia: The first question is, what's something you're passionate about?
Khalil: Music and soccer.
Sofia: Could you elaborate on that?
Khalil: I’ve been playing soccer since I was like three, and it's the thing I do during most of my free time, and then music is just like a pastime. Something I like to do.
Sofia: Do you play an instrument?
Khalil: I don't play an instrument, I just enjoy finding artists that other people don’t know.
Sofia: What's one of your favorite songs?
Khalil: Favorite song right now? Probably Hold Me Down by Dennis.
Sofia: Cool. What's one item on your bucket list?
Khalil: One item on my bucket list. Visiting a country. Visiting Brazil. That's one thing I want to do.
Sofia: That’s a good choice. Is there a reason why?
Khalil: It’s also related to soccer, like soccer is the biggest thing in Brazil. And then also, food culture seems really interesting.
Sofia: Yeah. How have you changed during your time at College Prep?
Khalil: Um, I think I've been more open to new interactions, like meeting new people. I feel like when I first came, especially in COVID, I was maybe a little more closed off or like not as open to meeting new people. But I think, I know I’m not perfect but like, meeting new people I think is an area where I've grown.
Sofia: Yeah. And then last one, what's one of your favorite College Prep memories?
Khalil: Junior Retreat. The retreat last year was really fun. I really enjoyed it, just being in the cabins late at night with everyone staying up. I think that was probably my favorite time.
Sofia: What did you do during Junior retreat?
Khalil: Um, we did ziplining, we did a lot of group activities, sports day, stuff like that. I thought it was really fun and it was a good way to decompress before, like, more stress. Yeah.
