Seniors of CPS: Carys K.

Interview conducted by Elsa C.

Wednesday, January 22, 12:24 AM. I find Carys in the courtyard at lunch, 10 minutes before the bell rings. It’s a nice day, and so we find a quiet bench in the courtyard to do the interview. I click record- the interview has begun.

Elsa: Okay, so we're gonna start with the rapid fire questions. Gym deck or student commons?

Carys: Student Commons.

Elsa: Favorite Trader Joe's snack?

Carys: The vegan gummy bears.

Elsa: Interesting! Freshman physics or Asian worlds?

Carys: I didn't take either.

Elsa: Favorite department at CPS?

Carys: I'd have to say science.

Elsa: What’s been your favorite CPS class and why?

Carys: I'd have to say Junior biology, because I had Cameron, and she was an amazing teacher. I'm also super interested in that subject and I'll probably be majoring in it for college.

Elsa: Wow. What's something that not a lot of people at CPS know about you?

Carys: I can ride a unicycle.

Elsa: Wow!!!

Carys: Yeah! I've been using that as like, my icebreaker for some classes, but I think only my English class knows that.

Elsa: That’s pretty interesting. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Carys: Dang. [laughs] Probably applying, or I think I'm planning on going to grad school. Not too sure about that. Probably with some type of job, hopefully still in science or biology. Yeah, not too sure.

Elsa: Yeah, that’s one of the harder questions. What’s one of your favorite CPS memories?

Carys: I would have to say one of my favorite ones was last semester spirit week for seniors. That was really fun. Like, I helped decorate a bunch of stuff, and then in the morning, everyone came early and did face paint stuff like that. So that was really great.

Elsa: If you could give advice to your freshman year self, what would it be?

Carys: Probably to try harder in Spanish. Didn't do the best in Spanish [laughs]. But, like, try and branch out more, make a lot more different kinds of friends, instead of like… Well I mean, I think keeping the same relationships and kind of deepening them is important but also branching out and meeting new people.

Elsa: Mhm yeah. And last question: If you could say thank you to one room at CPS, which would it be and why?

Carys: To one room? Like a physical room?

Elsa: Yeah.

Carys: I don’t know the rooms very well. Probably the quiet room. I have locked in there so, so many times. So yeah, that one.

Elsa: Well, that's the last question I guess.

Carys: Ok cool! Thank you.
