Seniors of CPS: Caetano dF.

Interview conducted by Eileen H.

Eileen: Hey Caetano, welcome to your Seniors of CPS interview! How are you doing today?

Caetano: I'm good. How are you?

Eileen: I'm good, thank you! We’re going to start with a rapid-fire round of questions. The first one is Gym Deck or Student Commons?

Caetano: Gym Deck.

Eileen: Favorite Trader Joe's snack?

Caetano: Probably plantains.

Eileen: Good choice! Kind of sweet, but not too much. Freshman Physics or Asian Worlds?

Caetano: Asian Worlds.

Eileen: And favorite department at CPS?

Caetano: History.

Eileen: I remember you won the Markel Prize, which makes total sense! Okay, so now we're going to go into longer-form questions. What has been your favorite CPS class and why?

Caetano: In junior year, I took History of Capitalism. That was pretty fun! Why? We talked about stuff like how ideas are formed, and how discourse works and how capitalism has changed. It was just really interesting.

Eileen: That is interesting! And I know you guys have, like, the longest history reader out of all of the history classes. That’s impressive. What is something that not a lot of people at CPS know about you?

Caetano: I guess one thing that I'm not that good at, but I do sometimes, is I learned how to juggle recently. I did it over the summer.

Eileen: How many balls can you do?

Caetano: I can try to do four, but not for that long, only for a few seconds.

Eileen: That is so cool. You should do it for the talent show. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Caetano: Probably working at– actually, probably traveling somewhere for a year or something like that. Yeah, take a gap year, see the world.

Eileen: Anywhere specific you'd want to see?

Caetano: My cousin went to Brazil for his gap year a while ago. And I think that would be interesting.

Eileen: Oh my gosh, that would be so fun! Okay, what is one of your favorite CPS memories?

Caetano: I guess it’s not a specific memory, but back in sophomore year, we used to play basketball every lunch, and it was just really fun. It was like, five-on-five games, and we just played the whole lunch. And it was really fun.

Eileen: You should bring that back! If you could give advice to your freshman year self, what would it be?

Caetano: Just take the classes you're interested in and have fun with homework and everything. Because I think I've taken classes that I really enjoy, and it's just made it very enjoyable. But also, not to stress too much about classes, because at the end of the day, I find learning kind of fun, and it's just good to enjoy.

Eileen: Last question! If you could say thank you to one room at CPS, what would it be?

Caetano: Probably the library, honestly, just because it's where I like to do work, but also where we usually hang out with friends during free periods. It's been fun.

Eileen: Okay, thank you so much. And that concludes our interview!
