Seniors of CPS: Addie M.

Updated: Mar 16

Interview conducted by Sophia R.

12:26 p.m: It’s the last day of school before intraterm, and anticipation is hanging with the water in the air. Addie and I walk over to the bench by the Sculpture, sitting down while talking about the process our of these interviews and how far we’ve made it into the Senior class. I click record. Welcome Addie. The interview has begun.

Sofia: First question is; what's something you're passionate about?

Addie: I sort of like, looked at the questions and thought about it, and I really like to write. I like writing, like, outside of school, like for fun. And I hope I have more time to do that in the future, like I don't do it a lot during the school year, but I really like it. And this is gonna sound silly, but I really like making playlists. I feel like that's something I've been doing a lot recently. I don't know if that's a passion.

Sofia: That counts!

Addie: I’m reading- I take Latin, and we’re reading The Aeneid right now, and we were reading about Dido and I was really into making a playlist. I thought that was like really important. But then I was like, I don't really know what I’m doing that for, but it's fine. I like doing that.

Sofia: Yeah. Okay, well, I guess related to that; What's one of your favorite songs?

Addie: Oh, that's hard. Um, I really, really like any song by Mazzy Star. They're a band from like the 90s, I think, but I really like their music. I think my favorite song is- they have a song called Common Burn that I really like. That's my favorite song. I think.

Sofia: What's one item on your bucket list?

Addie: I really want to take the train, like the Amtrak train, from California to Chicago. I don't know what the actual train line was called. But my intraterm last year took the train from here to Portland. And that was really cool. And I want to take it across the country because I've never been to a lot of the middle states, and I think it'd be cool to go through them on a train. I don't know.

Sofia: Yeah, sounds like fun. How have you changed during your time at College Prep?

Addie: Um, I think I've gotten better at being more social. Like, when I was a freshman, I was very quiet and I like to think that I've gotten less quiet and I've just become like, better at trying new things and like, branching out into other things that I would have been scared of doing as a freshman, I guess. Yeah.

Sofia: Yeah, for sure. Last one, what's one of your favorite College Prep memories?

Addie: Um, again, like the train intraterm I went on because, I guess it's not at CPS but it was CPS adjacent. Yeah, it was really cool. I had never been on a train overnight before, and we got on the train super late at night, on a Sunday and then we took it overnight, like into Monday. So I woke up on the train. And we were like, in the mountains, and it was snowing, and very peaceful. And I was like, that's where I want to go. I don't know. I just want to take more trains. Yeah, so it's a pretty cool experience.

Sofia:What was the intraterm?

Addie: It was to Portland. It was called Portland Streets and Eats I think?

Sofia: It sounds cool. Okay, great, thanks!
