“When I was in elementary school I wanted to be a paleontologist, but my teacher didn’t know how to spell ‘paleontologist’ on career day. My teacher sent me to the library to learn how to spell paleontologist and get books on paleontology. I went and met the librarian–her name was Ms. Pepper, I remember that vividly– and she helped me find a bunch of books, she gave me all the things I needed, and she told me all about paleontology. By the time I left the library, I had decided that I wanted to be a librarian because she knew more than my teachers and she let me leave with all the books. So I would not be who I was without my third-grade librarian, Ms. Pepper.”
