Alegria Barclay will join the College Prep community as Dean of Academics and Assistant Head of School beginning in the fall semester of the 2025–26 school year.
She was selected earlier this spring after an extensive, multi-round, nationwide search conducted by the school in partnership with RG175, a firm specializing in independent school hiring and recruitment.
The search began following current Dean of Academics and Assistant Head of School Scott Mattoon’s announcement that he would be stepping down at the end of the academic year.
Dean Barclay holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.A. in Library and Information Sciences from San José State University.
She brings extensive teaching and administrative experience in independent schools and currently serves as Dean of Faculty at Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco.
Previously, she was the Social Justice and Equity Coordinator at the Nueva School, a librarian and English teacher at the International School of Bangkok, and an English teacher at both the International School of Prague and Alameda High School.
Before entering education, Dean Barclay worked as a rare book conservator with the New York Historical Society and the New York Academy of Medicine.
The Radar will conduct an exclusive interview with Dean Barclay. Read it in the next issue.
